Dean Wright (who shares vfx supervision with Wendy Rogers) admits the bar has been raised in this second installment of the Narnia franchise. There is not only more action, but also more complex models from Creature Supervisor Howard Berger.

“There are huge battles in this film, so we’ve got a lot more character integration,” Wright says.

Since this time they shot primarily in the Czech republic, it made financial sense to use London-based MPC and Framestore CFC along with Weta Digital. Framestore is doing Aslan, Trufflehunter, the badger, the River-god sequence, kids entering and leaving Narnia; MPC is mainly doing the battles; and Weta is focusing on: a werewolf, a wild bear and all of the environments for the castle.

The Moving Picture Company in London is looking for some very high profile effects positions to be filled to help with the load of work they’ve acquired with Prince Caspian. They’re looking for a Lighting TD, Senior R&D Developer and Shader Writer.

Lighting TD

Senior R&D Developer
Start Date: Immediate
Following the recent appointment as lead facility on The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian, we are seeking to add an experienced developer to our talented R&D team to help drive development of software in areas such as fur, deformers and dynamics.

Shader Writer
Start Date: April 2007
Following the recent appointment as lead facility on The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian, we are seeking to add an experienced Shader Writer to join our Features Division.

MPC, The Moving Picture Company, the award-winning visual effects facility has secured lead VFX vendor status for the forthcoming Narnia; Prince Caspian movie. This exciting news along with the growth of existing projects such as Tim Burton’s Sweeney Todd, the Vince Vaughn starrer Fred Claus, Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix and Roland Emmerich’s 10,000 BC means we are expanding our London based team and will be touring North America on the hunt for great talent to work on projects in production through to 2008.
