Book portrayal

Pug is the slave trader Caspian and his companions encounter on the Lone Islands in The Voyage of the Dawn Treader. He is one of the clearest signs that Narnian rule there has rotted. Commerce has curdled into open human trafficking, and Pug treats it as ordinary business.

Lewis uses him as a smaller-scale villain than Jadis or Miraz, but not a trivial one. Pug turns misery into profit. That makes him a good fit for the Lone Islands episode, where Caspian has to prove he is more than a traveler by confronting corruption directly.

Adaptation portrayals

Adaptations keep Pug tied to the slave market and the crooked local order. Even when details shift, he remains the face of the Lone Islands’ moral decay.
