NarniaWeb’s Tirian Shares his Opinion of The Voyage of the Dawn Treader

The Dawn Treader

The Dawn TreaderThis week I had the extraordinary opportunity to see The Voyage of the Dawn Treader in Colorado Springs, Colorado. In the theater I met Tirian who is a writer for NarniaWeb.com. I was able to sit next to him while we watched the movie for the first time. Today Tirian posted his thoughts about the film on NarniaWeb.com. I look forward to posting my thoughts about the film very soon.

Keep reading if you want to know what Tirian thought of the movie.

“The visuals were tremendous and the Dawn Treader itself was impressive. Overall, I thought the visual effects were a big step up from the first two films.”

“As you have no doubt seen in the trailer, Tilda Swinton, William Moseley, and Anna Popplewell do appear in the film. Anna and Will really do just have cameo shots and are not characters in the story. Nor do they go back to Narnia as the sneaky trailer made it appear. The trailer also blows out of proportion the role of Tilda Swinton. In this film she is not the embodiment of evil nor is she a real character. She is simply part of Edmund’s nightmare on Dark Island. I like the appearance of all three characters and I don’t think other fans will have any problems with them.”

“The final scenes of the film, especially Aslan’s country, are unbelievably good.”

“So in conclusion, The Voyage of the Dawn Treader is a great film. I really enjoyed it. It is very well-made and does an excellent job of blending the book with the script while staying true to the themes of C.S. Lewis’ Dawn Treader. I believe this film will be a big hit in theaters this December. Will NarniaWebbers love it? Yes indeed, I think they will!”

  1. wow visual step up! LWW was awesome! I can’t imagine better! yay P and S aren’t in Narnia! yay Tilda is only part of the dream island like we thought! Heck ya it will make a lot! second most anticipated movie on rotten tomatoes! GOOD NEWS! I think the biggest problem will be them mixing up the happenings! but nothing major… Can someone explain Gael to me? where did she come from and why is she there?

        • I know a lot because I sat next to Tirian when he saw the film. I don’t want to reveal any details right now. She has a great minor character in the film. She has a good emotional connection and enhanced Lucy’s character.

Here are my thoughts about the film:
          https://narniafans.com/archives/9869

          • Based on story and all Gael must be another person who was sold as a slave, such as lucy and everyone. After scaping she must go with then to the adventure. I cant imagine another way to her character in story.

      • my hunch is they were worried georgie was getting too old so they found an excuse to write in a younger girl, like georgie would have been had they gotten the movie done when they wanted to . they wanted a younggirl in there somewhere for the girls in the audience to relate to, what do you think of this theory?

        • I don’t think Gael was ever a part of the original Narnia story. And I don’t think it’s because Georgie was too old. From what I’ve seen of behind the scenes video, and read from the stuff describing her role, it sounds like she has a connection to one of the crewmembers on board the Dawn Treader, nothing more. I could be wrong, but that’s the impression I’ve gotten.

I think it’s safe to say that if somebody from narniaWeb is impressed with this movie, it’ll be a great success!

  2. I had a feeling the graphics would be good, they have to be for 3-D.
well, technically the white witch is a character, she’s not just in his dream, a “shadow” of her is shown elsewhere in the trailer when there discussing the swords. But I’m glad they made that his nightmare, that’s really cool 8) Also, Aslan’s country scenes were good 😀 YAY, they were the ones we were hoping weren’t mesed up.

  3. That music that is new in the international trailer starting where lucy is using the magic book is so amazing.
