William Moseley, Georgie Henley, Anna Popplewell and Skandar Keynes return as Peter, Susan, Edmund, and Lucy, the Pevensie siblings, along with Academy Award® nominee Liam Neeson (1993 nominee for Best Actor, Schindler’s List) as Aslan the Lion and Academy Award winner Tilda Swinton (2008 winner for Best Supporting Actress, Michael Clayton) as the White Witch. They are joined by Ben Barnes (Stardust) as Caspian, heir to the Narnian throne, with Sergio Castellitto (Arthur and the Invisibles), Eddie Izzard (FX: The Riches), Warwick Davis (the Harry Potter films) and Peter Dinklage (The Station Agent) appearing as new residents of Narnia. The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian is fantasy adventure that will delight the entire family.

Lewis’ seven-book Chronicles of Narnia series is regarded as one of literature’s most enduring classics, selling over 100,000,000 copies in more than 35 languages, making it the second biggest book series the world over.

In The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian, the Pevensie children face a perilous mission and a greater test of their faith and courage. They find a world in which 1,300 years have passed. The White Witch is gone, the realm is ruled by a cruel tyrant and Aslan has been missing for over a thousand years.

The four children embark on a remarkable journey to restore magic and glory to the land. Accompanied by Trumpkin, a valiant dwarf, Reepicheep the talking mouse and a suspicious Black Dwarf named Nikabrik, they raise an army of Narnians to rise up against the evil king Miraz.

Disney Promotes Narnia by offering Free Subway Fare

Disney says it will offer free subway rides to strangers across the United States to celebrate the DVD and Blu-Ray release of “Prince Caspian.”

The second installment of “The Chronicles of Narnia” franchise is to be released in those formats Dec. 2.

Much like in the film when the Pevensie kids are transported to the magical land of Narnia while waiting for the subway, Walt Disney Studios Home Entertainment hopes to spread a little of that same magic in the subway as commuters are transported to their destinations the morning of Dec. 2.

During the morning hours (approximately 7 a.m.-9 a.m., though it may vary by market) in each participating market, commuters who enter a designated subway terminal on Dec. 2 in Atlanta, Boston, Chicago, Miami and San Francisco may have the opportunity to ride for free. Commuters need only to look for signage and street teams to receive their free ticket.

Voyage of the Dawn Treader Concept Art

Here are two pieces of concept art from The Chronicles of Narnia: The Voyage of the Dawn Treader. The first features the Dawn Treader itself, the second is when Lucy is exploring the Magician’s house. The images come from the Prince Caspian DVD and Blu-ray releasing next week.

The Voyage of the Dawn Treader Concept Art

The Voyage of the Dawn Treader Concept Art

We’ve got a gallery for Voyage of the Dawn Treader, where you can see any pictures and art that comes out until the movie hits, or we get a new gallery.

Thanks to FilmChatBlog for the images. There, you can also see a couple of videos with a dragon flying over the water and other such things. The dragon might have something to do with Eustace’s journey during the film, but you’ll have to read the book to find out more about that.

Filming on Voyage of the Dawn Treader pushed to April 2009?

Originally scheduled to begin filming in October of this year, filming was pushed into early 2009, for a January start date. Now, it appears that date will also be missed, as filming looks to be starting in April of 2009.

Ben Barnes Online has a forum post by member “Kim” that was at the Prince Caspian panel at the London Expo.

We managed to get front row seats for the Heroes Panel which was immediately before the Prince Caspian one. I’m afraid I was completely oblivious to the whole thing & I could not tell you one thing that was said! I was feeling very tearful & absorbed in my memories of Ben & the anticipation of seeing him again! When Ben came on we were to the left hand side of him – what an exquisite view that was – couldn’t keep my eyes off of the man! Ben was his usual scintillating, effortlessly sexy self! Warwick acted as compère, asking Ben and the other guy who played the lead-centaur questions and discussing their experiences of the filming. Cat was brave enough to ask Ben a question, though I can’t remember what it was (sorry Cat). I remember someone asking Ben a rather enigmatic question about how he got on with the women in the Narnia crew – Ben answered that there were 2000 people in the crew! (I think the questioner was hinting at the famous practical joke “kiss” from the director’s assistant or maybe she was just basically wondering if every woman on the set fell hook, line & sinker for him – as one would expect). Ben mentioned the women centaurs were wearing skin-tight green lycra trousers – “I liked that” he said naughtily!!! Warwick then said: “so if you want to impress Ben, girls, get out your green lycra trousers!”. I remember another question about whether Ben was nervous when he started filming Prince Caspian – he relayed the anecdote about his introduction to the set & the filming of the first scene, where he’s falling off his horse & gets dragged through the forest. He said that the director just barked at him: “get down on the floor”! He said that if anyone were nervous for seven months they’d have an ulcer.

The Panel were discussing that the centaur-bloke had also played the wolf in the scene with the White Witch and they shared a wonderful anecdote about Ben seeing the wolf costume in the corner of the set not realising that the head was animatronic – he went up to it and had a huge fright when all of a sudden it snarled angrily at him! Warwick said that Ben let out a “squeal”! Ben butted in at this point with the classic line: “But it was a manly squeal”. Hilarious! Ben and Warwick also had some banter (a bit like he does with Colin Firth) about the fact that Warwick’s character was killed off & Warwick wondered if he could be a Dufflepud in the next film – Ben said “no” quite flatly (& sexily!). Ben said that VODT was due to start filming in April 2009 (plenty of time for him to make something else in the meantime perhaps?!) I also remember someone asking Ben about Dorian Gray – he didn’t disclose anything we don’t already know though.

My favourite bit of the panel was when Warwick showed some lovely personal never-before-seen pics of him and Ben together to the music of Michael Jackson’s “Ben” – it was so funny & Ben was hilarious – “oh god, I know this music!” he said mock-petulantly and stood up to watch it. He then did something quite breathtaking! As the screen was on the wall behind the panel’s seats, instead of straining to look at the screen as he had been doing (affording me quite wonderful views of his hair and, ahem, derrière), he got up and sashayed stunningly down the catwalk-like structure in the middle of the room and sat down in the centre of it, leaning back to watch the screen! At this point I was not watching the screen anymore – my eyes did not leave Ben for one second – I cannot tell you how extraordinarily sexy he looked sitting there giggling and scoffing at Warwick’s distorted pics! No doubt Andrea will have taken lots and lots of pics of this – it was a photo opportunity to die for!

Referring to the picture of Prince Caspian & Nikabrik running through the forest fleeing the Telmarines, Ben explained how there were actually no ferns in that particular wood – they had all been placed there in pots by the set-gardeners; as the scene involves them dashing swiftly through these ferns, they both ended up falling flat on their faces many times! Ben said Warwick fell over 2000 times! Warwick responded to this by saying that Ben fell over less than him but Ben’s falls were more spectacular & embarrassing – actually he said Ben “fell on his arse” – at which point Ben said: “go on, say ‘arse’ again”! Apparently footage of Ben & Warwick falling over the fern plants is a treat we can look forward to on the DVD bloopers!!! Yay!

The Panel ended with a competition to win a DVD of Prince Caspian – but it wouldn’t be able to be sent to the winner until November 17th!!! Warwick’s idea of having a game of “Aslan says” (sort of like “Simon says” – the rules just went completely over my head – I was concentrating on Ben) failed miserably – when everyone was supposed to stand up and a lot didn’t, Ben laughed and said: “you just couldn’t be bothered!” Ben was chuffed because he came up with a better idea for awarding the DVD by asking the question relating to the names of Reepicheep’s companions.

In looking for information on what Circle Vision is, about a week or so ago, I discovered this little website that has a list of practically everything on the Prince Caspian DVD bonus features disc.

Prince Caspian DVD and Blu-ray Trailer

One of the best movies this summer, and most highly underrated, was The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian. I suspect, and there is evidence, that it was in fact an over-stuffed summer movie season. The Dark Knight was the last huge movie of the summer that people were looking forward to, and hit after most everything else had either opened big or crashed.

Prince Caspian’s release date of May 16th was enough time after Iron Man to have some pull after Iron Man stormed out of the gate as a new hero in Spider-Man’s old pole position on the start of the season. Speed Racer wouldn’t make a dent, giving Caspian more breathing room. Indiana Jones would have something to say, however, and only give Caspian about six days.

It’s funny when people tell me they haven’t seen Caspian yet, and I can’t believe it, but I can understand how they would have missed it. If I wasn’t as big a fan, with ticket prices as they are, it’s hard to see everything that comes out. In the month of May, it would have been easy for one person to spend $40+ at the theatre.

Now, however, Prince Caspian is being released on DVD and Blu-ray. This is where Caspian will start making it’s big money. Launching December 2nd, one of the best movies of the year* that many people are about to discover, it’s going to be another incredible disc with great features.

The trailer has the melody of Coldplay’s song Clocks running through it, which was oddly fitting for the imagery.

*I’ve seen mostly everything this summer.

Prince Caspian DVD and Blu-ray release date-further confirmation

The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian DVDAlong with the official press release from Disney, I have gathered some further information of Prince Caspian’s DVD and Blu-ray release on December 2.

I work at a Suncoast store at a mall near my house, and my manager, who knows I’m a NarniaFan and that I write for this site, told me personally about the news. Along with the BluRay and single disc edition of the film, there will be a three disc “special edition” DVD.

I did some digging around to find what the special features would be and managed to locate a complete list from TheHDRoom.com. Here is a look at the bonus features included on the BluRay edition will be:

Disc 1:

Audio Commentary with Director Andrew Adamson

BD-Live (Blu-ray exclusive)

Circle-Vision Interactive: Creating the Castle Raid (Blu-ray exclusive)

Disc 2:

The Bloopers of Narnia

Deleted Scenes

Inside Narnia: The Adventure Returns

Sets of Narnia: A Classic Comes to Life

Big Movies Comes to a Small Town

Previsualizing Narnia
Talking Animals and Walking Trees: The Magical World of Narnia

Secrets of the Duel

Becoming Trumpkin
Warwick Davis: The Man Behind Nikabrik

Disc 3:

DisneyFile Digital Copy.

Special features for the three disc edition of the DVD will be the same as on BluRay except where other wise indicated.

From the sounds of it, there might not be a Prince Caspian Extended Edition like with the first film. Unlike the Lord of the Rings, in which they had to cut a significant ammounts of footage for theaters, and thus providing fans with acompletly “different” film, it was not so with LWW. Seeing as a good portion of what may have been cut was more Susan/Caspian material,I doubt any of us would want that reinstated. If we hear otherwise, you can count on NarniaFans to break the story.

It should be noted that this release date is an improvement over the “rumored” release date for the DVD of Nov. 25. The rumored date would have pit Prince Caspian against two big family oriented movies: Dreamworks Kung Fu Panda and Disney and Pixar’s Wall-E which would have made for some very stiff competition, esepcailly from families buying the DVD’s. This current date only pits it against one big juggernaut, The Dark Knight.

So NarniaFans, mark the date on your calenders and remember if you want the DVD, just make sure to specify which version you want when you ask Father Christmas for it.

Prince Caspian to DVD and Blu-ray on November 25th (RUMOR)

We’ve heard an early rumor about a November 25th Blu-ray release for the hit film ‘The Chronicles Of Narnia: Prince Caspian.’ Stay tuned for an official announcement.

List price for the Blu-ray Disc would be about $39.98, but retailers typically put them on sale for a good discount within the first week. This is just in time for Thanksgiving weekend.

No word yet on bonus features for the DVD or Blu-ray releases.

Prince Caspian DVD and Blu-ray Disc Release in October?

I guess we’re better off just waiting for the official word from Walt Disney Home Entertainment. There’s a little bit of mis-information out there, and it’s primarily because someone misread the following:

Consumers who want to buy a Blu-ray player that supports BD-Live need to look for the “BD-Live” logo on the front of the machine.

Fannon said he expects the prices to drop over time as production meets demand and Hollis said he expects this technology to become standard in most new Blu-ray players by October.

Disney’s first BD-Live releases, Sleeping Beauty and Tinkerbell, will come out in October. Wall-E and Prince Caspian are in the pipeline but no release date has been set.

The only two BD-Live releases from Disney, in October, will be Sleeping Beauty and Tinkerbell. The article goes on to say that no release date has been set for Prince Caspian or Wall-E, though both are in the pipeline.

My guess would put Wall-E in November and Caspian in December.
