First, let’s get this out there for those that don’t already know, and this is NOT an April Fools’ Day joke: The Chronicles of Narnia: The Silver Chair is actually happening. Joe Johnston is directing it from a script by David Magee. It is supposed to start filming sometime in this calendar year.

Silver Chair to be a Netflix Original Movie – Not true, but something that is happening more and more these days. Netflix is getting larger budgets for original feature films and series, and has announced tons of content. This year they released a reboot of Benji that had been announced many years ago. To us, this was both funny and believable. It also is something that could happen in the future, more and more. What is amazing about the time we live in, is that we used to either have to wait for a feature film to be made of our favorite books, or we’d have to wait for direct to video movies or TV series versions of things. Now we have tons of options. Still have feature films, tv shows and direct to video releases, but we also have original content made for streaming services like Amazon Prime, Netflix, and Hulu, as well as Disney’s own upcoming untitled streaming service. All of this makes a Narnia film hitting streaming possible, and a good way for the content to be made, and with good quality.

Rick Moranis to play Puddleglum in The Silver Chair! – This one is also something we thought up. But not without reason. I actually think he’d be perfect for the role. He hasn’t actually retired from acting, by the way. He’s merely waiting for the right script to come his direction, and that simply hasn’t happened yet. I wrote this one because I’d like him to be on the radar of the filmmakers for this role. Could be great!
