See Anna Popplewell at Memorabilia, an Expo in Birmingham

Anna Popplewell, who stars as Susan in the blockbuster Chronicles of Narnia movies, will be attending both days of the Spring Memorabilia Show at Birmingham’s NEC.

Anna, played the second eldest of the Pevensie children, in the movie franchise of the popular book series Narnia by CS Lewis. Susan first journeys to the magical land of Narnia in ‘The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe’, where her common sense and skill at archery play a major role in defeating the White Witch.

The film’s 2008 sequel, ‘Prince Caspian’, sees Susan and her siblings return to a very different world, where the talking animals have been driven into hiding and Prince Caspian, the rightful heir to the Telmarine throne, has been usurped by his evil uncle.

When I was in middle school, I got hooked on a little known film series called Star Wars.  Ever since, I’ve been a fan of the property through thick and thin.  I loved seeing all of the special editions on the big screen in 1997, and I loved seeing each of the prequels as they hit the big screen.  I’ve heard about the Star Wars exhibit that is now in Huntsville, AL; but never seen it.  But they’re going to be getting something that I have seen, and loved: the Chronicles of Narnia Exhibition!

And according to a report, they’re going to have it in the fall of 2010, which is the prime position as the next Narnia film is coming out.  There’s no word yet on if the Dawn Treader additions will be ready in time, but it’s possible.  After all, they are expanding the exhibition with each movie that is released, and work has already begun on the parts featuring Dawn Treader.

If you get the chance to see the Narnia Exhibition this year, and they do have things from the Dawn Treader, please write in to us about it!

Interview with Jeff Okabayashi – Dawn Treader’s First AD

Jeff Okabayashi is a really nice guy.  I met him on the Dawn Treader set.  There’s an interview with him in the Directors Guild of America’s Quarterly Magazine.

Every kid dreams of chasing pirates on the high seas or being on the pad as rocket ships launch off into space, and that’s usually where the exploits end. Not so for assistant director Jeff Okabayashi, a one-time engineering student whose career has quite literally spanned the globe in a feast of action adventure and make-believe.

Proposal on the Dawn Treader: 10 Questions about Weddings

This week I was interviewed by Woot.com about my proposal on the Dawn Treader, among other things.  A favorite website of mine, it is great for finding great deals on things that you might have otherwise put off buying.  It’s also great for buying some junk that you don’t need from time to time, and awesome for unique shirts that you can’t get anywhere else.  They’ve had a Narnia themed shirt before, and I’ve loved their sense of humor for a long time.  My answers are sometimes very tongue-in-cheek!

C.S. Lewis associate speaks on Lewis, Narnia, and prayer

Simon Barrington-Ward was Chaplain at Magdalene College, University of Cambridge, during the last half of the 1950’s while C. S. Lewis was a professor there. He went on to be the Bishop of Coventry, and is now retired.

He spoke about getting to know Lewis, his first impressions of Lewis as “a farmer in a pub,” and the intelligence of Lewis that was particularly intimidating.  Afterall, Lewis was very well read, hence being a professor at both Oxford and Cambridge during his life.

Lazy Sunday, the Narnia Rap, Performed Live on Jimmy Fallon

Back in 2005, just as the Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe was releasing, SNL had a skit of “hardcore” rap about Narnia and cupcakes. The video went viral, and helped put YouTube on the map. Last night, Andy Samberg and Chris Parnell performed it live on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon, with the band The Roots.

It appears that the footage that we saw at the Narnia Summit a few weeks ago has been screened again.  This time, at the National Religious Broadcasters Convention.  I’ve asked Ken Bowles, from Midwest Christian Media, to comment on just what the convention is, and give his general impressions of the footage.  I’ve also edited it a bit so it’s free of some particular important spoilers.  While that information is likely to get out into the general public with so many thousands having now seen the footage, I’m going to keep it as spoiler free as possible.
