Those of you wondering where to catch “Voyage of the Dawn Treader” on television (after the film is released, hits DVD, and is allowed to broadcast on TV, that is) may wonder no longer.  Variety reports:

“Twentieth Century Fox Television Distribution has inked an exclusive long-term output deal with Germany’s ProSiebenSat.1.

“The licensing agreement, the first such deal between the two companies in 14 years, includes exclusive TV rights to upcoming features such as Oliver Stone’s “Wall Street 2: Money Never Sleeps” and “The Chronicles of Narnia: The Voyage of the Dawn Treader,” as well as a large selection of U.S. series for the group’s stations in Germany, Austria and Switzerland.”

I know that this is a little bit late, but I’m still working on a whole bunch of new things that are going to knock your socks off.  Believe me when I say, you haven’t seen anything yet!  We’re currently figuring out the release cycle for the content, but when it starts, it’s going to be something you won’t want to miss.

From MundoNarnia comes a photograph of what looks like the Dragon Cave set from The Voyage of the Dawn Treader where Eustace makes a few changes!  Take a look.

Taste of home for Narnia: Dawn Treader crew

Monday, October 19th, 2009

Big things are coming soon, but this is not part of that, just so you know.  You’ll know it when you see it!  Anyway, here’s the news.

PLAYING a cast of characters who routinely slip out of England and into the magical world of Narnia should make the British actors who recently finished filming at Cleveland Point accustomed to being away from home.

Narnia Vocalist Lisbeth Scott Releases Innovative Photo Campaign “Hope is a Thing,” to Benefit Children’s Charity “Education Through Music”

Monday, October 12th, 2009

One of my favorite parts of going to movies is the soundtrack that accompanies the film.  I’m a huge fan of music that not only compliments a movie, but enhances the film so much that, without it, the film would not be as effective.  When it comes to the Narnia films so far, Lisbeth Scott’s vocals have been an ever present part of the experience, as the Pevensies enter Narnia, or on the journey to the Professor’s.  She has a new album coming out, with a campaign to support a children’s charity.  She also collaborated with composer Harry Gregson-Williams, whose music was present in the first two Narnia films.

An Interview with Micheal Flaherty

Wednesday, October 7th, 2009

Last spring Micheal Flaherty, President of Walden Media, visited Asbury College as part of its Engaging Culture weekend. As those who have met him know, he is a truly great man–full of wisdom, enthusiasm, real joy, and deep compassion.

While he was on campus, Devin Brown had the opportunity to ask him about Walden’s mission, where its name came from, and even what his favorite scene is. His response to these and other questions can be viewed in “An Interview with Micheal Flaherty” which has been posted at: Asbury.edu

There’s also a question and answer session about The Voyage of the Dawn Treader.

Beloved Pictures Secures Film Rights to C.S. Lewis’s The Great Divorce

Monday, October 5th, 2009

Beloved Pictures has secured the film rights to C.S. Lewisʼs The Great Divorce.  C.S. Lewis, the world-renowned Oxford/Cambridge scholar and best-selling author of works such as The Chronicles of Narnia and The Screwtape Letters, is regarded as one of the most profound writers of the twentieth century. The first two installments of seven in the Chronicles of Narnia film franchise (The Lion, The Witch & The Wardrobe and Prince Caspian), produced by Disney & Walden Media, have grossed $1.16 billion to date.  Lewis was also the subject of the Academy Award-nominated, BAFTA-winning biopic, Shadowlands, starring Anthony Hopkins and Debra Winger.

Ben Barnes talks Dawn Treader Book versus Film

Saturday, October 3rd, 2009

In an interview about Dorian Gray, Ben Barnes was asked about the Voyage of the Dawn Treader.  Specifically, what may have changed between the book and the film.  This is a question that we all have about the film, and though many fans would like to see the film shot page for page with the book, movies are completely different animals.  Sometimes books don’t translate very well into movies as they are written.  In our own minds they seem as movies, though, and based on each of our own imaginations, when we read Narnia, each of our experiences is going to be different.  So how do you take C.S. Lewis’ very loose, open descriptions to film and make everyone’s version?  You really can’t.  But what about a story like that found in this book?  Well, on film, it needs more than the book has.  Here’s what Ben has to say about it.

I’m back from vacation to bring you more great Narnia news than you can possibly dream of. I can’t give specifics of my vacation, but I can say that I did visit Middle-earth while I was in New Zealand, and that I saw wonderful, weird and marvelous creatures while I was away. Onto the news: The C.S. Lewis Festival returns for its seventh year, expanding its offerings into early October.
