Saturday, June 27th, 2009

Portugese Narnia Fansite MundoNarnia.com had the opportunity to interview Tom Nelson, a storyboard artist who has done work on all three Narnia films so far, including the upcoming Voyage of the Dawn Treader.  How the interview came up is one thing, but they’ve alerted us to it, which you can read here.

Dufflepuds to be entirely Computer Generated?

Wednesday, June 24th, 2009

Lee RavitzNarniaWeb member icarus found an entry on Lee Ravitz’s resume, stating that he was involved in green screen tests for the Dufflepuds in The Voyage of the Dawn Treader.  This leads us to believe that the Dufflepuds with either be entirely CG, or they’ll be motion captured much in the way that Gollum was motion captured for The Lord of the Rings. Lee Ravitz’s resume states:

Role: Dufflepud (Green Screen VFX Test Shots Only)
Type: Film (Feature)
Production: Voyage of the Dawn Treader
Director: Angus Bickerton
Company: Purple Sail Ltd.
Venue: Twickenham Studios

The Voyage of the Dawn Treader Storyboards?

Monday, June 22nd, 2009

Last time we posted something from an unknown source, we had to promptly take it down.  I’m going to take no chances here.  Mundo Narnia has what appears to be storyboards from The Voyage of the Dawn Treader.  Granted, these drawings are very non-descript.  They give nothing away, really, and they are merely scenes that are in the book.  Nothing too exciting, but pretty interesting none-the-less.

Voyage of the Dawn Treader Casting Call, Open to Australians

Friday, June 19th, 2009

We’ve been promising news of casting calls whenever we receive them, and tonight Oswald the Lucky Rabbit e-mailed us with this update from StarNow.co.uk.  One of the stipulations is that you should be living in Australia for this.  Another item to note about the page is what it says near the top: Casting for Chronicles of Narnia – Invisible ARMY.  Could Invisible ARMY be the working title? They write:

Ben Barnes talks Promotional Tours and Prince Caspian

Friday, June 19th, 2009

Ben Barnes is a very down to earth guy, and provides a really good example of what he went through on the promotional tour for Prince Caspian.  He mentions New York, where I saw him about four out of the seven days that I was there, and sometimes twice in one day, so I can attest to what he says about his experience there.

It can be hard work being a Hollywood hero. Just ask Ben Barnes, a.k.a. Prince Caspian, star of the billion-dollar-grossing Chronicles of Narnia franchise.

Prince Caspian Concept Artist Nominated for Chesley Award

Friday, June 19th, 2009

It’s been more than a year since the release of Prince Caspian, and it’s just been nominated for an award.  More specifically, concept artist Justin Sweet has been nominated for Best Product Illustration for The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian.  The Chelsey Awards are given for excellence in science fiction and fantasy art or illustration. The awards have been presented since 1985 and are run by the Association for Science Fiction and Fantasy Artists (ASFA). The awards were named after the artist Chesley Bonestell after his death in 1986.  They are presented at the World Science Fiction Convention.  The convention will take place in Montréal, Québec, to be held Thursday 6 August – Monday 10 August, 2009.

NarniaFans Mailbag #39: Dawn Treader Trailers, Stunts and More

Thursday, June 18th, 2009

Sorry that this week’s mailbag is a day late. I had some business to attend to. Namely, there were ghosts to be busted, and I was the best Ghostbuster for the job.  On Tuesday, a game that I had been waiting for most of my life to play was finally released.  Not only that, but it was released in roughly three variations, two of which I know for sure used the actors from the original movies.  Ghostbusters The Video Game was released for most systems, of which I got it for Xbox 360 and Wii as well as DS.  I have beaten the game on the 360, and just started playing the Wii version, which is a very different experience from the 360 version so far.  And I’ve loved almost every minute of it, save for some small problems, and the difficulty level of the game when sometimes, even on easy.  When I was 8 or 9, I went to the arcade (!) to play the Ghostbusters game, only to be disappointed by it for not having a similar style of play to that of the movie, and it’s about time they’ve made the game that I dreamed up at such a young age.  But this isn’t what you’re here to read about, you want to hear answer to Narnia fan mail, so here we go.

Asbury College: Engaging the Culture – Weekend Report

Monday, June 15th, 2009

We made an attempt to get someone to this event, but sadly the one person that might have been available had to work during the event. Thankfully another Narnia fan site was able to have someone in attendance. I would have gone myself, but I had a wedding to go to during the conference. Micheal Flaherty is a great friend of mine, and I would have loved to see him again.
