Narnia Fan Spy Reepicheep, Knight of Narnia, wrote to us about the return of Narnia.com earlier today. Initially, when I went to the domain, it still went to the Disney website. I believe that the DNS hadn’t updated in my area yet.

Producer Mark Johnson has spoken about how they were putting the promotion together for Prince Caspian and what thoughts they had for how to capture a wider audience for the film than the first had.

When Mark Johnson was producing “The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe,” released in 2005, he and Walt Disney Pictures were careful to hew to a PG rating.  ”We were always concerned that we didn’t want to make it too young, and were worried in our campaign about exposing some of the talking animals. We thought an older audience might say it’s just for little kids,” Johnson said.

He found the problem reversed for last year’s film sequel, “Prince Caspian.”  ”The second was accused of being too old. What happened [is that] it was less about the Narnian creatures than human creatures,” Johnson said.

The second film grossed $420 million at the global box office, while the first raked in $745 million.

An Umbrian hill-town now has reason to celebrate something that they have long suspected: that C.S. Lewis took the name of the town known as Narnia to use for the name of the fictional world in the Chronicles.

They have received proof by way of C.S. Lewis’s former personal secretary and biographer, Walter Hooper, who has given Giuseppe Fortunati a copy of a Latin atlas of Italy that belonged to Lewis.  In it, he had underlined Narnia.

Shane Rangi could be the only actor to appear in all seven Narnia films, if they keep making them, aside from Liam Neeson.  If nothing else, he’ll be the actor with the most different roles in one film series, having played 2 roles in the first film, and seven in the second.

He’s announced, via Weta Cast, that he’ll return to the Narnia series with The Voyage of the Dawn Treader.

Congrats, Shane!  Hopefully I’ll get to meet you in person this year, finally!

Weta Cast is a brilliant podcast created by the folks at Weta.  This episode features a pair of interviews with a couple of guys you may have heard of: Richard Taylor and Shane Rangi.

Richard Taylor is behind the weapons and armor you see in both The Lord of the Rings and The Chronicles of Narnia.

Shane Rangi is a great friend to NarniaFans.com, and he played at least seven roles in Prince Caspian as well as a couple in The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe including both major Minotaurs: Asterius and Otmin.

There’s an artist that has become quite well known for his redesigns of book covers.  Most notibly, the Harry Potter series.  Unfortunately it doesn’t appear that they’ll ever see publication, but that doesn’t mean we cannot hope that some of his designs will one day see print.  I had been watching his blog to see if he was ever going to do his take on The Chronicles of Narnia books.  Well, last weekend he posted them.  I’ve included a glimpse of one of the covers, as it is my favorite book in the series: The Last Battle.  You can see his art work on his blog (Narnia Redesign) or at his flickr account.
