Wednesday, February 25th, 2009

The Brisbane Times is reporting that the Environmental Protection Agency has thrown its support behind plans to use Moreton Bay as a major film set for the next Chronicles of Narnia movie, The Voyage of the Dawn Treader.

Redland City Council last night also backed the proposal, which would involve building a pier off Cleveland Point, south-east of Brisbane, and anchoring a barge in the bay as the site of a 40-metre-long film set ship.

Twentieth Century Fox and Walden Media have considered using Cleveland Point or Wellington Point to film some of the scenes for The Chronicles of Narnia: The Voyage of the Dawn Treader.

Narnia: The Exhibition at The Franklin Brochure

Friday, February 20th, 2009

Narnia: The Exhibition Flyer CoverNarnia Spy Shad wrote to us about the Narnia Exhibition that is now at the Franklin in Pennsylvania.  If you get the chance, go to it.  It very impressive!  Here are scans that he send in of a brochure that he picked up there.

Yesterday, my brother and I attended a conference in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania.  During one of the breaks, my brother picked up a brochure for the Narnia Exhibit, in Philadelphia.  I thought the brochure was interesting, and I thought other fans might think so, too.

I’ve attached two images of the brochure - the front, and inside.

The Narnia that Might have been

Tuesday, February 17th, 2009

Frank MarshallThe Chronicles of Narnia has been in the works for a very long time.  With an animated version of The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe released nearly thirty years ago in 1979, and the BBC putting together four of the chronicles for TV in the mid-to-late 80s, Narnia had been attempted before.

The Chronicles of Narnia property was in different hands until the late 1990s, and now we have an idea of why it changed hands at that time.

Frank Marshall is a producer that is no stranger to children’s movies.  His credits include E.T., Indiana Jones, Back to the Future and An American Tail to name only a few of the 84 films on his producer credits list to date.

Monday, February 16th, 2009

Douglas GreshamDarren Jacobs was kind enough to forward another update on the C.S. Lewis 2009 Tour.  The update comes by way of the C.S. Lewis Society.

We have added a new and exciting dimension to our C.S. Lewis Society’s tour, “The Path of C.S. Lewis and British Christianity.” Douglas Gresham, the step-son of C.S. Lewis, will be our special guest for the Oxford portion of our nine-day educational tour of England, May 31st through June 8th, 2009. He will personally accompany us as we visit the colleges at Oxford, tour the Kilns (Lewis’s and Douglas’s home in Oxford,) and enjoy an evening meal at the Trout Inn, where J. R. R. Tolkien ate often with “Jack.” He will travel with us as we visit the Eagle and Child Pub, where Lewis gathered with his Christian soul mates, the “Inklings.” It is an incredible honor for our society to have Mr. Gresham with us, who is co-producer of the two recent Narnia Disney films. It is gracious of him to share with us his personal life-memories of his years with C.S. Lewis.
