William Moseley talks Narnia, Prince Caspian

Friday, October 27th, 2006

“You just be the character, you use your imagination,” he says. “When you imagine Aslan [the story's benevolent lion], you just see some highly individual perception– I saw a majestic creature. I enjoyed being able to create my own Aslan instead of someone else putting it there in front of me.”

The finished film delighted Moseley, who turned 19 in April. “We all had very high expectations,” he says, “and it actually went beyond them.”

Moseley credits the film’s success to director Andrew Adamson’s adherence to his artistic vision. “We’re so lucky that we had someone who said what he wanted, did what he wanted, and didn’t let anyone push him around,” Moseley says. “He’s so quiet, yet he’s so strong”

A sequel, The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian, is in the works, but its producers are keeping details under wraps. “We’re going to shoot in January, and that’s going ahead,” Moseley says, and shooting is slated to continue through the summer. “I haven’t seen a completed script yet,” he says. “They’re keeping it really hush-hush. Whether it’s even finished, I don’t know.”

Tim Finn Releases New Album: Imaginary Kingdom

Thursday, October 26th, 2006

Tim Finn has released his seventh solo album this week entitled Imaginary Kingdom. The album includes the song Winter Light, which was used in the final credits of the latest Narnia film: The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe.

“Imaginary Kingdom is an album of beautiful songs crafted by a master songwriter who always has a story to tell. Following on from the success of his collaboration with younger brother Neil, the more famous of the two ex-Crowded House siblings, Tim is back with arguably his most complete record to date. With references to astounding moons and salty seas aplenty there is much of the Finns’ native New Zealand in this offering. The land of the long white cloud appears to be the perfect place for the fantastical images on this album. ”

NarniaFansCast – Episode 13

Sunday, October 22nd, 2006

John Burkitt (EveningStar), Paul Martin (Specter), and Roger Thomas (PrinceOfTheWest) team up to give the news and discuss it. The Bard’s Tale segment features a short story by John Burkitt, “The Statue in the Library.” In Movie Talk, we speculate when the first bits of “Prince Caspian” will make their way to audiences, and in Book Talk, we ask a couple of tricky questions of our panelists. Which ones? Listen and find out!

Trust us, episode 13 is not as unlucky as the number suggests…at least not while you’re listening to it. However trying to record it more than convinced host John Burkitt that disaster was lurking at every corner! The magic of editing removed a number of laughs…and tears…of frustration.

Richard Dempsey talks BBC Narnia Auditions

Wednesday, October 18th, 2006

Richard DempseyRichard Dempsey is the actor who played Peter in the BBC’s “The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe.” He’s now 33; and will be in the stage show “Dirty Dancing” starting next week at Aldwych Theatre.

He told the WHT: “I knew I wanted to be an actor when I played Charlie in Charlie and the Chocolate Factory at Holy Family School in WGC. I was about nine years old at the time and I had this ‘lightbulb’ moment. It came out of the blue for me as no one in my family is in the profession, but I just fell in love with it. I used to go to the Barn Theatre in WGC too.”

However, it wasn’t until he was 14 that he got his big break in the CS Lewis Narnia tales on TV.

“I was really shy at the auditions though,” he said. “Everybody was putting up their hands to play parts in the auditions apart from me. But the BBC recognised something different in me and being in the series was a great experience which never leaves me. People still talk about it now.”

Since then the former Sir Fred’s pupil has gone on to star in ITV’s Sherlock Holmes series, Inspector Alleyn, Wycliffe and stage shows including Fame.

He will play Neil Kellerman in Dirty Dancing, the geeky son of a holiday camp owner.

“I’m trying not to play him as a geek though,” he explained. “If you think of him like that it makes him harder to play, so I’ve concentrated on the subplot where he is involved in civil rights.”

Richard will be appearing at the Aldwych Theatre from Tuesday.
