In an interview about Dorian Gray, Ben Barnes was asked about the Voyage of the Dawn Treader.  Specifically, what may have changed between the book and the film.  This is a question that we all have about the film, and though many fans would like to see the film shot page for page with the book, movies are completely different animals.  Sometimes books don’t translate very well into movies as they are written.  In our own minds they seem as movies, though, and based on each of our own imaginations, when we read Narnia, each of our experiences is going to be different.  So how do you take C.S. Lewis’ very loose, open descriptions to film and make everyone’s version?  You really can’t.  But what about a story like that found in this book?  Well, on film, it needs more than the book has.  Here’s what Ben has to say about it.

We have it on good authority, from a very reliable source, that filming officially wrapped at Cleveland Point on September 24th. There is no word on where the ship will move next, however.

Word is the wrap was announced at the end of the day after shooting on the Dawn Treader all day. No word on what was shot, though filming will continue until the official wrap on or around November 13.

Kerrie Burney’s [it's all about ME] blog has posted three final pictures of the Dawn Treader at Cleveland Point.  We believe the ship will be taken apart and reassembled at another location as filming continues at various spots in Australia.

Of special note is the first picture.  This was taken from some distance and shows damage to the Dawn Treader’s side, which we have seen close-up in previous spy shots.  From this view, the damage does not look that bad.  Could this have been caused by the Sea Serpent?

The “It’s All About Ruby!” blog has posted an entry containing three pictures taken around the “Voyage of the Dawn Treader” set in Australia.  Two of the three show the Dawn Treader in the background, and the distance from the photographer gives a good perspective about the size of the ship.  The third is a close-up showing damage to the side of the Dawn Treader, with several actors — including two younger children — looking overboard.  Look closely, and you’ll noticed a stand-in for Reepicheep near the edge, too.
