Tonner Announces Plans to Make Narnia Character Figures

Walt Disney Pictures’ epic film, The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe, based on C.S. Lewis’ timeless tale, comes to life through Robert Tonner’s collection of TONNER CHARACTER FIGURES™ (TCF).

The life-like figures are authorized portraits of William Moseley in the role of Peter Pevensie; Anna Popplewell in the role of Susan Pevensie; Skandar Keynes in the role of Edmund Pevensie; and Georgie Henley in the role of Lucy Pevensie.

Robert Tonner, CEO and head designer of the award-winning Tonner Company, is thrilled to re-create the magic and mystery of Narnia through his figures. “I was intrigued when I heard about the movie. When I saw it, I was convinced that I had to do it.”

This project has been one of the most painstaking endeavors for Tonner. “So much of each character is in the presentation that we didn’t want to overlook a single detail,” Tonner admits. “We drew on our strengths to accurately depict those critical elements.”

Ranging from 13″-19″ tall, each perfectly replicated Pevensie sibling comes authentically dressed. The intricate costume details range from to real buttons and lace-up shoes to custom knit sweaters. The kings and queens of Narnia also have separate coronation costumes available which include fine details such as intricately molded crowns, hand-embroidery details and luxurious fabrics.

These wardrobe adventurers are perfectly scaled and composed of fine quality hard-plastic and vinyl. Each TONNER CHARACTER FIGURE™ features hand-painted face details and 14-points of articulation for the most realistic poses.

About Tonner: Headquartered in Hurley, New York, the Tonner Doll Company, Inc. develops and markets high quality collectible dolls like Betsy McCall®, Effanbee® Dolls, and the popular Tyler Wentworth® line of dolls and fashions, as well as other licensed characters, including THE WIZARD OF OZ dolls and HARRY POTTER™ TCFs.

McAvoy ‘Devastated’ About Missing Narnia Films

Scottish actor James McAvoy fears he’ll miss out on the excitement of the Chronicles of Narnia film series because [he thinks] the character he played in the first film doesn’t show up again until book seven.

The Brit won acclaim as faun Mr. Tumnus in The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe but hasn’t been asked to reprise the role in the sequel, Prince Caspian.

And he fears he’ll be old and grey before he returns to the film franchise, based on C.S. Lewis’ books.

He tells Venice magazine, “Tumnus doesn’t show up until the last Narnia book, which is called The Last Battle… so I’m a bit devastated.

“But, if they ever get to the seventh book, when I’m about 45 years old, maybe they’ll (producers) come knocking.”

Tumnus DOES show up at least once before then, though: The Horse and His Boy.

William Moseley Interviewed; Finds Narnia in Greenwich Village

William MoseleyWilliam Moseley is the 18-year-old Brit who plays the oldest brother Peter in the smash hit “The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe,” the first story in C.S. Lewis’ “Chronicles of Narnia.” After garnering great reviews and an ardent following of teen screamers, Moseley took the autumn off from his life in England to explore acting classes and wander the streets of Greenwich Village.

Just like the Narnia story, Moseley’s energy makes one truly believe that he finds wonder behind every cupboard door. His excitement and joy colors everything he encounters here, from acting classes to cup cakes to Downtown street life. I recently spoke to the young actor about his enthusiasm for the Village, before he left for New Zealand to shoot the second Narnia film, Prince Caspian.

You did have a plan beyond breakfast, right?

I came to hone my craft a bit before I head off to New Zealand for the next installment of Narnia, “Prince Caspian.” I find the atmosphere here, in New York so motivating. It’s funny, I knew I would have one class to take with Sheila Gray, but I worried I wouldn’t be busy enough, and now I am constantly doing scenes with people from my classes, going to theater and the movies.

For me acting is so much about confidence. If you believe you are good enough you give that off and it makes you actually better. So studying with a teacher where I am being exposed to method and sensory work seems to have moved my acting to a different level.

What’s next after the Village?

Well, I leave for New Zealand at the end of January, and then we shoot there and in Prague, Slovenia and Poland. This role is going to be very physical, with lots of battles. I have been training in Gleason’s gym in Brooklyn. It is a place where they see me, as rather smallish boy with a funny accent, and they make me earn my respect there. I have been studying sword fighting as well, which is sort of a dream come true because when I was a boy my mum wouldn’t let me fight or kick box because she thought I’d just use it against my sister. Now I am getting to do it all.

Georgie Henley switches on Ilkley lights

Chronicles of Narnia star Georgie Henley made the switch-on of Ilkley’s Christmas lights a magical evening on Saturday.

The schoolgirl film star, who lives in Ilkley, told the many families gathered on The Grove how the town’s festive lights had always been a highlight of the year for her.

She told crowds that of all the places she had visited on her film-making travels, including New Zealand, Japan and the United States, she still liked Ilkley the best.

Georgie, 11, played Lucy Pevensie in The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe, the first of Disney’s big-screen adaptations of C S Lewis’ classic children’s books. She’ll return to the Narnia set in early 2007 to start shooting the sequel, Prince Caspian.

Crowds waited in a cold and breezy Ilkley town centre for the young actress to make her appearance and push the brightly coloured plunger to light up the town for Christmas.

The build-up to the lights switch-on began with some festive singing, led by Ilkley singer, Shirley Britton, and a parade of schoolchildren, air cadets. Then Father Christmas aboard a horse-drawn carriage, made his way to The Grove from Springs lane, led by Town Crier Chris Richards.
