A Stand-in for Peter in Dawn Treader?

Just when we thought it was safe for the rumors to stop, now that filming is over, more details seem to be slipping through the cracks as the strangest websites are posting information about roles in the Voyage of the Dawn Treader that have not yet been made official.

We can take this with a grain of salt, as there is no confirmation from the studio on Peter Pevensie appearing in the film, let alone Susan Pevensie. However, it’s very strange that it would be listed somewhere that is somewhat official, as far as the film industry is concerned.

Will Peter appear, and will Susan also?

Here’s what icarus says:

eCaster, via the EGO management website:

Zak MorcilloZak Morcillo – Stand in for Peter
2009 / Stand in (Peter) / The Chronicles of Narnia: The Voyage of the Dawn Treader / Michael Apted

What do you think? If Peter appears, which is something that I have mentioned in a few articles as something I have no problem with, when would you think it appropriate? At the beginning of the film, to show where his character is going? What do you think of the possibility of seeing Will and Anna one more time in a Narnia film?

And don’t worry about the word “Stand-in.” A stand-in is very much like a stunt double. When the filmmakers are setting up a shot, they’ll have the stand-ins on the set, so they can frame the shot and figure out where the best places are for the actors to stand. They tend to wear replicas of the costumes as well. Sometimes, they’re on camera when you aren’t going to be seeing their face, and the shot it something used quickly or otherwise. It’s something very simple but very vital to the film process.

I think it would make sense for Peter to appear in the beginning of the film to show where his character is during this story. I think it would be a good scene to add to the film.

  2. Mark Sommer says:

I think this is great! I’d love to see Anna and William at the beginning of the film. Peter and Susan ARE, after all in the book. (Read the first few pages of Chapter 1.)

  3. emma says:

wow he’s very good looking 😉

  4. kate says:

It makes sense for Peter and Susan to show up. At the beginning of the book (and the BBC version of the Dawn Treader that came out in the late ’80s) Peter and Susan are at the train station with Lucy and Edmund talking about where they are going to be for the duration of the film (Lucy and Edmund are not happy about having to spend time with their horrible cousin Eustace). That makes the most sense for where they’d come in for this film, as they are not to come back to Narnia again (as stated at the end of Prince Caspian).

  5. Eli says:

Susan should appear in a particular bit of magic Lucy encounters on one of the isands, as well.

  6. Nieke says:

I hope they make them appear! :) It will make sense to the movie to see where they are going. And I would love to see William and Anna in this movie. :)

  7. Derek Brown says:

Will and Anna should be appearing in more films. They still need to make The Boy and His Horse which has some scenes with the 4 Pevensies. And there is also The Final Battle where all but Susan appear.

  8. joyfungirl says:

That would be amazing if they were in the beginning of the movie. :)

  9. AravisK says:

Peter never appeared in Horse and HIs Boy, except for a tiny mention of him. It’d be great if Peter and Susan both made appearances in order to help explain why Lucy and Ed were sent to stay with EUstace in the first place.

  10. Roger says:

I hope all four Pevensies are in this film. They should appear in the beginning of the film as in the book. Some people have expressed interest in adding a scene at the end, the marriage of Caspian and Ramandu’s daughter. If that scene is added the four Pevensies should appear there too. That would be a nice closure to the Pevensie era and a happy, upbeat way to end the film.

  11. Battle Maiden says:

I’m very enthusiastic about all four Pevensies appearing in the beginning of the movie. What a great way to introduce Ed and Lu’s plight to the viewers! Also, each of the other movies begin with a little background info in “our world”. So this would fit right in with LWW and PC.

In response to Roger, I hope that Peter and Susan aren’t present for Caspian’s wedding. How would you explain that, after Aslan has specifically told them in PC that they will not be returning to Narnia? A bit contradictory, don’t you think? 😉

  12. It would be okay for a small cameo saying good=by to Edmund and Lucy. It also would be okay for another cameo for Anna when Lucy sees her in the magician’s book.

  13. Roger says:

Yes, it is contradictory, but it would be nice. At least Edmund and Lucy would be nice to see at the wedding. Remember that the movies are made for the general public not us die hard Narnia fans. The movie makers have shown that they are willing to bend the stories some. I still cringe in some parts of LWW where the movie does not get the geography of Narnia quite right, but it was a very good movie. I won’t write about the differences in PC, but it was a very good movie. VDT will be different from the book, and we will see if it will be a very good movie. Your point is well taken though.

  14. Tarwe, the Narnian Elf says:

Oh what joyous news! I hope it proves to be true! I would really like to see VDT begin with Peter, Susan, Edmund, and Lucy at a train station, where they go their separate ways. It would be a tinge sad to have them split up, but that’s how it was in the book anyway.

  15. Battle Maiden says:

I agree with you about some changes being necessary in the movies, and that even though the movies can differ quite a bit from the books, they’re still awesome. I love both LWW and PC despite some obvious changes that were made in both movies.

Still, Susan and Peter not returning to Narnia was mentioned in the PC movie — not just the book. So it might leave the viewers a bit confused, especially the ones who haven’t read the books.

Anyway, if moviemakers do decide to do something like that, it won’t be the end of the world. :) VDT is still coming to theaters, and I am still very excited about it! No sense in getting riled about something that may not even happen. 😀

Oh by the way, despite me being against the idea, I do think it would be a sweet, happily-ever-after ending to the movie. :)

  16. Angelica Chakraborty says:

That would be a good idea, but Susan will be off to the US with their parents. So I don’t know how that will precisely work out. Peter would make sense for he would be going to Professor Kirke’s house to study for exams. So probably Edmund or Lucy complaining about wishing to go to the professor’s house as well instead of going to the Scrubbs.

  17. Lily_of_Archenland says:

I could see how they’d fit Peter in there… and not only for a cameo at the beginning.
For one thing, in the Magician’s Book scene in the bookverse there are references to tournaments in transformed-Lucy’s honor and to people’s reactions to her new appearence back home–I can see either of those legitimately including her older brother. Plus that there’s always the chance of a flashback in someone’s mind to something in the timeframe of a previous film, or an incident from during their rein in the Golden Age.

  18. ReepicheepFan says:

It wouldn’t feel like a Narnia movie if we didn’t see them in the beginning. Maybe wishing Edmund and Lucy good luck as they get on the train to visit Eustace.

  19. lionesslucy :) says:

oh i hope we see them!! although definitely not back in narnia. that would undermine aslan’s authority and honesty, besides changing the story. but in the beginning it would be great!! :)

  20. bernard sepnio says:

That would be contradicting to the book but if that would make the film better the it’s ok for me. ^^,

  22. Lucy says:

Of course he should be in it! We need them in it! But not the stunt double…

  23. Brook_ says:

yes, i hope they put Will & Anna in VDT!!! I would miss them so much otherwise!!!

  24. Edmundlvr says:

I may be mistakin, but I thought Voyage of the Dawn Treader had a begining with a school. (which we saw pictures of a while ago on this website)
It would be great if it did stay orginal with the book.
Peter and Susan should come back! That would make the story complete!!!!

  25. Arabella says:

I definitely hope Will and Anna would appear in VDT!!!

  26. Battle Maiden says:

    In reponse to Edmundlvr,

Um… no, VDT does not begin with a school, SC does. VDT begins with Edmund and Lucy going to stay with their cousin Eustace while Peter studies for an exam and Susan goes with her parents to America. In the SC, the story begins with Jill Pole crying behind the school gymnasium.

    Hope this helps! 😉

  27. Kelly says:

I think it makes sense for Peter & Susan to appear at the beginning of VDT. I hope we will get to see Will & Anna one more time. 😀

  28. Olivia says:

Actually, a stand-in and a stunt double are not the same. A stand-in is just for when they want to get the lighting on a shot right or something and the actor doesn’t necessarily need to be there.

Personally, I think it’d be cool to have Peter dropping the other two off at the Scrubbs’.

  29. Brook_ says:

i don’t know why they wouldn’t put will & anna in the VDT. It makes perfect sense…:D

  30. sean says:

i forsure want will and anna on the dawn treader movie at the beginning!!!!!

  31. je crois que c’est vraiment extraordinaire . william et anna s’entend tres bien ensemble!!!

  32. MarshwiggleGirl says:

Hi! I used Microsoft Translator to translate anthony farhat’s comment into English…

“I believe that it is truly extraordinary. William and Anna work well together!”

    I agree with you 100%, anthony! 😉

  33. Claire says:

I do hope that anna and will are going to be in the movie! I would be ever so sad if they weren’t!

  34. Sarah S. says:

I hope you do put Anna & Will in VDT! I’d sooo miss them.

  35. S says:

I think it would be cool for Peter and Susan to be in it. From the new trailers you can definitely tell they have some sort of role. I would venture to guess it’s at the beginning or the very end of the story. I almost want to say it looks like an ending.
