What does Ben Barnes do for Christmas?

December 10th, 2008 by Paul Martin | Source: ITN Showbiz

Ben Barnes, who plays Prince Caspian, recently spoke with ITN Showbiz and they asked what he prefers to do around Christmas time.  Turns out, he loves having a traditional Christmas.

“I get very fervent about it being traditional. I want the tree in the same place, in the same corner, in the same room.

“I want to sit in the same chair and listen to the same music. It’s very, very boring but I like it a certain way.”

Sounds good to me.  I also prefer a traditional Christmas.  How do you prefer to celebrate Christmas?  Comment below.

    Hey Everyone,

Sometimes, I wonder in these changing times if people still prefer more traditional ways of celebrating holidays. I worry that I am simply too old-fashioned, which is why it is so refreshing to hear both Mr. Barnes and Mr. Martin say that they also like the traditions…although I guess what “traditions” exactly is unique to people personally.

For example, my favorite memories on Christmas always involve decorating the house with tons of lights, an awesome Christmas tree, and sharing Christmas Eve dinner and conversation with my extended family…aunts, uncles, cousins, and grandmother. We may not always get along or even like each other, but Christmas Eve is the one day during the year that we try to put aside our differences and come together as a family.

Also, I love going to midnight Catholic Mass on Christmas Eve with my Mom and sometimes sister, as it is certainly one of the most beautiful and joyful Church services of the year with a great singing choir and wonderful readings. It is so cool to see a crowded Church too that night, as everyone is usually in a jolly, friendly mood.

Finally on Christmas Day, besides opening up presents and eating good Italian food and turkey, my parents and I always saw a movie together since I was a child, as it provides new entertainment on a day when everything is normally closed. Speaking of films, no Christmas is complete in our family without seeing at least one version of A Christmas Carol (either the Alastair Sim black-and-white or Albert Finney musical version) and more recently “Love Actually,” which indeed shows the true generous spirit of the season.

Even with my family, as we get older (I am now 23), things change, and life has its up and downs depending on what is going on with our social lives and careers. However, Christmas will always be about family in some form for me, whether related by blood or not. I want to wish everyone at Narniafans.com family (including Mr. Barnes and Mr. Martin) happy holidays, Merry Christmas, and Happy New Year. I hope that your “traditions,” whatever they are, go off as well as wish and dream!!!

    Sincerely,

    Anthony

i think that’s great that Mr Barnes likes a tradtional Christmas, i do too, like decorateing the Christmas tree, putting up the nativity scene, going around town to see the Christmas lights , this year we’re haveing italian food for Christmas dinner, i also like going to church and singing Christmas carols, listening to them on the radio or CD’s

I also like a traditional Christmas. This is my favorite time of the year. I love the lights, the trees, the songs and being with my loved ones. Have a Merry Christmas everyone!!!

I like change and tradition, both—traditions I’d never want to let go are decorating the tree to the Christmas carols on the CD player, one gift a piece before breakfast, and setting up the Nativity ringed with little lights on top of a pile of pine-straw “hay” on the front porch.
We’ve had some changes over the years, too, though—the time when we get to wake up Mom and Dad on Christmas morning, whose house the big dinner’s held at, the location of the tree, and whether we get a “fake” tree or a live one are some that come to mind.

Hey, traditional Christmases are cool! I am so into tradition. Must have toffee, Christmas buttons, music…oh, and Narnia. Never forget Narnia!

I love traditional christmases but the one side of my family is a little strange so you never really know whats gonna happen. I always want Christmas at my Grandma’s house with all the cousins and family and have the christmassy tree in the same spot and have beenie-baby wars in the basement. and i love watching Narnia on Christmas and its tradition,(for me) to read the Father Christmas part of the Lion the Witch and the Wardrobe on Christmas Eve.

  9. I think that the traditionnal christmas in ben’house ,is pretty cool.Because it let you feel something you don’t feel it for 1 year, but i’m not completely okay with this idea because christmas can be better than that …

I like a traditional Christmas, but I don’t mind a few changes every once in a while. I mean, it’s fun to do new things as well as the old things. I think it’s a lot better to have a change once in a while. My mom scrapbooks our Christmas celebration every year, and it would be rather boring to see the same thing every year and we’re all just older.
