I wrote this article about two years ago, but decided not to publish it then, because of the reaction from a few people. I decided that it’s time to publish it, however. Over the past few months I’ve been thinking about this concept.  It’s actually something that has been rolling around in my head for many years, but I’ve always known how people would react to it.  The response would be extremely negative.  In fact, when I posted this article in a pair of groups on Facebook to get feedback, that’s exactly the response that I got.  One person called the mere idea a travesty.  Much discussion followed, and I’ve heard the most negative of reactions to this idea possible.  To those that will, inevitably, also hate this idea: you have been heard.  Take comfort in the fact that this project is only in my own mind, and not something that I expect to ever actually come to fruition.

The idea resurfaced when I saw a book on the shelves at Barnes & Noble.  The book was John Carter: The Movie Novelization.  It’s a very thick book that is 555 pages long and is based on the motion picture screenplay.  On the inside of the book it says the following:

John Carter: The Movie Novelization by Stuart Moore, based on the screenplay by Andrew Stanton & Mark Andrews and Michael Chabon, based on the story A Princess of Mars by Edgar Rice Burroughs.

Also includes: A Princess of Mars by Edgar Rice Burroughs.

Will Poulter wins 2014 EE Rising Star Award at BAFTAs

Will PoulterI know we’re a little late in reporting this, but better late than never.  Congratulations are in order, as Will Poulter, who played Eustace in The Chronicles of Narnia: The Voyage of the Dawn Treader, has been awarded the EE Rising Star Award.  The EE Rising Star Award is the only BAFTA accolade voted for by the public and is designed to reward exceptional emerging talent.

Poulter beat Dane DeHaan, George MacKay, Lupita Nyong’o and Léa Seydoux in the public vote.

Spencer McHugh, Director of Brand at EE, said: “We’re absolutely delighted that the British public has chosen Will Poulter as their winner. With the award now in its 9th year we have seen a record response from the voting public, which is testament to the immense talent recognised in the EE Rising Star category this year. Congratulations to Will, a much-deserved winner.”

Pippa Harris, Deputy Chair of BAFTA’s Film Committee and Chair of the Jury for the EE Rising Star Award, added: “This year has been a fantastic year for emerging film talent and all the nominees clearly have star quality. Congratulations to Will Poulter, I hope this award marks the beginning of a new and exciting chapter in his career.”

Tony Nixon cast as James Welch for “JACK AND TOLLERS”

Tony NixonGOOD NEWS from Third Dart Studios!  Actor TONY NIXON (First Mate RYNELF in THE VOYAGE OF THE DAWN TREADER) is the first actor to be cast in JACK AND TOLLERS! Tony’s role is pivotal as he’ll be playing JAMES WELCH who was the Director of Religious Broadcasting for the BBC during World War II.  Welch contacted C. S. Lewis and through a heartfelt exchange asked him to speak for their Nation in dire need.

Third Dart is thrilled to have Tony on board as we move closer to production.  From playing a character in Lewis’ legendary work of fiction for children, to playing a man of history who helped Lewis accept his calling during WW II, Tony has much to offer our project…in his own words he says, “My life seems to have intersected with that of Jack and Tollers in so many ways. As a child growing up in England the Chronicles of Narnia, The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings were part of our childhood. I remember clearly my cousin Peter and I avidly working our way through the Narnia adventures, and discussing them in great detail. In 2008 I was in France filming a documentary about my great grandfather who was killed in the Somme district in 1916. It turns out that Tolkien was at the very battlefield on the same day that my ancestor was killed. Who knows, maybe they passed one another. Of course stepping onto the deck of The Dawn Treader for over three months was amongst the most amazing experiences of my life. Whilst the part of James Welch is quite small in the sense of screen time it is an important part of the story of C.S. Lewis and the history of the British people, at a grave time in the history of that nation. I am honoured to be trusted with this part of an amazing story.”
